St. Sebastian School, West LA

Pre-K to 8th Grade. Dual Language Immersion

Message from our Principal

Dear Saint Sebastian Family,

Affirmation of the Week: “I can shine through the cloudiest of days.” Drawing inspiration from the gloomy mornings, the Sun always shines regardless of us being able to see it or not. Our mental fortitude through difficult times makes the difference between suffering through the challenges and dealing with the challenges.

Mr. Suk

Principal

Indigenous Peoples’ Day

Since time immemorial, American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians have built vibrant and diverse cultures — safeguarding land, language, spirit, knowledge, and tradition across the generations.  On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, our Nation celebrates the invaluable contributions and resilience of Indigenous peoples, recognizes their inherent sovereignty, and commits to honoring the Federal Government’s trust and treaty obligations to Tribal Nations. On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor America’s first inhabitants and the Tribal Nations that continue to thrive today.  Let’s celebrate and recognize the many Indigenous communities and cultures that make up our great country.

Monthly School Family Mass

On Saturday October 19th, we will celebrate Mass together as a Spartan family.  We want to invite all our Saint Sebastian families to join us across the street at the Parish at 5:00pm. Students who wear their mass uniform will get a free dress pass.

Vision to Learn at school

Vision To Learn is a non-profit organization working in communities across the U.S. offering vision services to students in support of their academic achievement. Vision screenings will take place here on Friday October 25th. If your child does not pass the screening, they will be referred to the Vision To Learn mobile clinic to receive a routine eye exam by a trained and licensed independent optometrist. If needed, your child may also be prescribed glasses. The optometrist may also identify and refer students in need of follow-up vision care. Eye exams do not involve eye drops or dilation.

If you do not want your child to receive the service, please turn in this Opt Out Form to the office asap.

Costume Parade and Contest

The Halloween Costume Contest will begin at 9:15 am this Thursday, October 31st  in the school yard. Students are asked to wear costumes that are appropriate for a school setting with young children on campus.
The guidelines include the following:
